Artist Biography

Born in Nantes, France in 1910, Francois Xavier Josse was a French painter and sculptor who specialised in life drawings of nude female models.

He studied at Beaux-Arts in Nantes before moving to Paris to further his studies at the Academies of the Grand-Chaumière and the Colarossi Academy in 1930. A retrospective of his work was organised in Paris in 1989.
