Francis E. Jamieson (1895-1950) - Early 20th Century Oil Lochearnhead Landscape

Description

A particularly fine Scottish landscape in oil, by the artist Francis E. Jamieson (1895-1950), but signed under his pseudonym W. Richards. Jamieson has a distinctive aesthetic style, instilling a sense of calm in the viewer, from his bucolic scenes. Here, a figure carries a pail of milk along Loch Earn set against the impressive backdrop of Glen Ogle. Clearly Jameson feel great affinity with the Scottish landscape and has created a subtle reflection of the highlands in the surface of the lake. Presented in a gilt wooden slip. Inscribed to the reverse 'Lochearnhead'. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On canvas.

Condition

In very good condition for a picture of this age. With two minor holes to the right edge of the canvas which would benefit from some restoration. There is some minor surface discolouration and craqueluree. The gilt slip has some surface marks and scratches, as well as losses to the lower left edge.
