Frances St. Clair Miller was born and educated in London, and was a student at the Slade School of Fine Art from 1965 until 1969. The Slade at that time was small and many of the tutors were artists of the highest rank, especially in the printmaking department. Varied techniques of etching, lithography and silkscreen were expertly taught, with equal emphasis on traditional methods, high quality materials, and innovative techniques.
After graduating, Frances continued to exhibit her work in group and individual shows in England and the rest of the world. Her subjects have always been traditional: inspired by landscapes and architecture. A particular emphasis on traditional techniques and the highest standards in printing still remain a constant in her work today.
