This elegant still life depicts two floral arrangements set upon a polished wooden table. Vibrant red and white anemones are displayed in a cobalt blue bowl alongside delicate pink chrysanthemums in a tall blue vase. The composition is rendered with soft, impressionistic brushwork against a muted background, and is presented in an ornate gilt grey frame with elaborate acanthus mouldings. Initialled 'E.M' lower right.
Condition
Fine craquelure observed throughout. Minor surface marks and abrasions in the upper third. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of light overpainting. The canvas has been previously relined. The frame has light surface wear and staining to the linen slip. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
