Signs of wear consistent with age. There is some craquelure to the surface of the painting, in areas where gum arabic has also been used. Notable yellowing to the varnish layer. Small chips and scuffs to the gilt-effect frame. Visible separation of the window rebate moulding to the lower left-hand corner and chipping to the right-hand rail. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.
