A chicken can be seen to the lower left of the composition pecking at produce picked from the garden. The interior study has been well presented in a gilt and swept frame. Indistinctly signed and dated 1869. On panel.
Condition
Side splits in the panel substrate have been glued and held together by the gilt-effect frame. The natural grain of the wood can be seen through the paint layer. Light abrasion noted to the surface of the oil.
