A charming early 19th-century provincial portrait of a refined lady wearing an ornate white lace bonnet adorned with a pink rose. Her composed expression and refined accessories suggest a respectable middle-class woman. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in an antique frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age. Fine craquelure and scattered abrasions throughout. A small paint crack is present in the upper right area. There is a significant abrasion across the face, which appears to have been previously restored. Additional areas of old restoration are visible. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age. The frame shows wear commensurate with age, including cracks and areas of veneer delamination. Signs of historic woodworm activity are present throughout; the frame has been treated and is pest free.
