Framed Early 20th Century Oil - Hydrangea
Description
A delicate floral study of a hydrangea head coming into bloom, its petals fading from pale yellow to pale pink as the summer season unfolds. The painting is beautifully presented in a statement ebonised frame with a ripple-running pattern and high-relief profile. Unsigned. On canvas laid to board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including light soiling to the surface of the painting and yellowing to the varnish layer. There are some areas of craquelure, and inspection under UV light reveals minor retouching. Light wear noted to the ornate frame. This includes small indentations on all rails. The overall condition of the artwork is very good for its age.
