Description
An intrepid fisherman can be seen retreating in this early 19th century study of a waterfall. Taking on the waterfall in proportion, several woodland trees can been seen standing tall on the left-hand side of the river. The artist has used a sgraffito method to scratch a rippling effects into the surface of the water, evident below where the man is standing. Unsigned. The painting has been well presented in a new card mount and slim gilt frame. On paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and rippling in the watercolour paper. The frame is in a good condition with a new card mount. Gilt paint has been used to touch up the frame down the left-hand side.
