A delicate and characterful watercolour portrait with graphite elements. The sitter is a Georgian Gentleman with a gentle smile, dressed in fine attire from the early 1800s. This delicately detailed portrait is unsigned and presented in an exquisite Victorian oval gilt frame. The frame boasts wonderfully delicate floral strapwork featuring lilies and acanthus leaves at top and bottom and a diapered arch with more foliate detailing surrounding it at the top. Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some debris trapped behind the glass. The frame has some cracking to the ornamentation that is typical for its age. Regardless of this, the frame remains structurally sound with no losses, restoration or loose areas.
