Various tears and losses to the pith paper as seen in our images. There is a particularly large tear running through the empress's royal blue dress. There is discolouration and foxing to the pith paper in the unpainted areas. The painting has been presented in a new mount and glazed frame to prevent any further damage to the artwork.
