A seated mother breastfeeds her swaddled infant, her full attention on the child in this intimate maternal moment. The artist builds up the figures with flat, confident planes of slate blue, ochre and deep plum, set against a loosely brushed grey ground. Monogrammed 'M.R' to the lower right. The painting is well presented in a silver painted frame.
Condition
Minor surface discolouration and craquelure observed throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition.
