Description

A nineteenth-century portrait of David Wilkins (1685-1745). Originally from Prussia, Wilkins settled in England and became archdeacon of Suffolk and Canon at Canterbury Cathedral. Indistinctly signed in graphite to the lower left. Indistinctly inscribed in German to the reverse. On paper.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration, marks, and foxing. Wear and cracking to the frame. The upper right corner of the frame has been restored.
