Framed 19th Century Oil - Study of a Gentleman in Hunting Attire
DescriptionA 19th century study of a gentleman dressed in hunting attire, with a fur jacket and walking stick. The portrait looks to be unfinished in areas, and it is possible that this was a study for a much larger painting. Well presented in a simple gilt frame. Unsigned. On wove.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The lower left edge of the wove has a 6cm tear that has been restored, and another tear to the lower edge measuring 3cm. There has also been restoration to the foot, where another 2cm tear has been repaired. The wove paper has started to lift away from the backing card. There are numerous abrasions and marks to the frame, especially the upper left hand edge.
