A miniature 19th century portrait of an elderly lady wearing a lace bonnet and brown shawl. Presented in an oval gilt surround within an ebonised frame with a brass loop and rose/thistle/clover attachment. The unknown sitter adds to the fascination in collecting miniature portraits which originally arose due to the interest in the skill of the artist, each portrait can be viewed as a unique and original work of art. Painted on ivory. Unsigned.

There is a loss to the upper left corner of the frame. Otherwise in fine condition.
