The oil requires extensive restoration work. There is a small hole in the canvas to the lower edge and extensive craquelure to the surface of the painting. Slashes to the surface of the portrait can be seen to the upper right quadrant, and there are several minor areas of paint loss. Inspection under UV light reveals previous overpainting to the portrait and attempts at restoration.
