A delightful 19th century study depicting an idyllic village with thatched cottages and farmsteads. Figures mill about the lanes with one gentleman on horseback as another drives a flock of sheep through the small village. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The painting has already undergone some restoration including a full canvas relining and areas of overpainting. However the painting would still benefit from further restoration. There is some craquelure and discolouration to the surface.
