A remarkable and extremely fine 19th Century Victorian gilt wooden picture frame with composition mouldings. Outer floral motifs, leaf and berry upper running pattern, ornate arabesque moulded cove and lamb's tongue running pattern. Decorative ornate corner mouldings include strapwork, foliate and floral mouldings. Plain inner gilt wooden slip, as shown. Overall size 51.2cm x 46cm. Window opening measures 29.1cm x 24cm. Rebate measures 31.3cm x 26cm.
Condition
The condition is very good for a frame of this age including some stable surface cracking and small areas of restoration. Some wear to the gilt surface, mainly to the corners and slip. Some light surface dirt and a very fine patina of age.
