A very fine and meticulously detailed 1843 architectural study in watercolour, entitled 'Interior of Rosslyn Chapel'. Rosslyn, or 'Roslain' Chapel is a 15th Century chapel located in the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland.
Renowned for its architectural magnificence, the artist has depicted the chapel nave and aisle as it would have been in the mid 19th Century. Meticulous brushwork conveys the intricacy of the stone carvings and piers. Well-presented within a titled washline mount and gilt wooden frame, as shown.
Unsigned and inscribed. On wove.In very good condition for a picture of this age, with only some very light surface discolouration. The frame has some wear and surface scuffing to the edges and corners.
