A very fine late 19th Century Victorian School portrait of a bearded gentleman wearing a dark suit and bow tie with gold studs. Capturing a vivid sense of character and age, the artist has produced a warm but serious portrait, likely intended as a reminder as to the status and good nature of the sitter. In good condition overall, for a picture of this age. There are some small paint losses along the bottom edge. There are some minor abrasions and marks, and two small areas which have been professionally restored.
