Fine Early 20th Century Watercolour - Portrait of a Lady
Description
A remarkably fine and meticulously detailed early 20th Century miniature portrait in watercolour on ivorine panel, depicting a seated lady wearing a blue headband. The artist clearly had a very high level of proficiency in the medium, with miniscule brushwork and a fine layered palette. The figure confronts the viewer in a calm manner, presenting herself in a relaxed, but focussed gaze. Her dress and style is typical for the aristocratic classes of the period. An impressive example of work by an unknown miniaturist.
Handsomely presented in a piano key style frame, finished to a high standard. The frame has gained a soft sheen and patina with age.
Unsigned.Condition
In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. There is some slight minor even surface discolouration. The frame is in very good condition, with a patina of age.
