Fine 19th Century Chinese School Watercolour - The Emperor
Description
A very fine 19th century Chinese School portrait of a regal Emperor, beautifully executed in watercolour with details carefully picked out in body colour. The portrait was acquired by Sulis Fine Art as a pair, with 'The Empress' also listed. Elegantly mounted in a fine black frame.
On rice paper.Condition
Several fine splits in the rice paper now held securely by a frame and glazing. Previous restoration visible to the emperor's face, as well as discolouration to the rice paper. Watercolour pencil has been used to touch up this area of damage. Light wear to the wooden frame.
