This finely executed 16th-century portrait depicts a theologian adorned with a distinctive diamond-shaped headdress and encircled by a luminous nimbus, a symbol of sanctity and spiritual authority. Condition

Some discolouration to the surface. Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. There is a small hole to the upper edge of the panel. Small losses of paint to the perimeter. Some warping to the panel. Historic woodworm damage to the reverse of the panel; however, the wood has been treated and is pest-free. Overall the artwork remains in good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations. Overall the frame is in very good condition for its age.
