A charming study after an original painting by Dutch artist Peter de Hooch (1629-1684). The scene depicts a woman reading in a classically Dutch interior, with soft lighting and simple decor. Signed by M. Fenneker to the lower right. Presented in a veneered frame with a gilt inner slip. On canvas.
Condition
There is some craquelure to the surface and visible stretcher lines. Light wear to the edges of the canvas. Some scratching and wear to the frame. Evidence of historic woodworm to all four sides of the frame.
