The scene is filled with wholesome, domestic happiness, the modest home filled with personal belongings. The artist has employed the Romantic view that many held, of rural life during this era.
The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting is presented in a contemporary gilt effect frame with ribbed cove and foliate strapwork.
On canvas.The painting has undergone high quality professional restoration. There are many large canvas tears at the reverse which have been fully restored at the front. The image is not affected by these tears. The frame is in fine condition.
