An impressive late 19th Century oil on canvas laid to board, showing a Beagle. The artist has captured the dogs rather mournful expression in detail, alone in the animal's stable setting. In rich sepia tones the composition has a wonderfully rustic quality. Monogrammed and Dated.
Condition
Inspection under UV light reveals various areas of retouching to the paint. With scuffing and paint loss to the edges of the board, most notably to the upper edge.
