Eugen Spiro - Original Mid 20th Century Pen and Ink Drawing. This drawing is likely to have been made as a greeting card by the artist. Exhibited at Wilko von Abercron gallery and Galerie v.A., Munich, according to documents on the reverse. Signed "The Spiro's" to the lower right. In a cream card mount measuring 36 x 32 cm. Signed. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some surface dirt and marks.

Eugen Spiro (1874-1972) was a German and American painter. He was born to a Jewish family in Breslau. In 1904 Spiro was briefly married to the famous actress Tilla Durieux, who later married the important art dealer Paul Cassirer. His younger sister was the painter Baladine Klossowska. The French painter Balthus is his nephew.
