A charming early 19th-century portrait depicting George Forster of Steel-Hall. The artist captures him in his best attire, wearing a fine silk necktie. Unsigned. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame. Listed alongside a companion piece, 'Portrait of Mary Emerson' (SV923). On panel.Condition
Abrasions and fine craquelure throughout. Some discolouration to the varnish. Loss of paint, particularly to the left edge. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Wear to the frame, including scuffs, stable cracks and small losses. The frame has been previously restored.
