An original oil painting by John Michael Carter (b. 1950) depicting a young woman in a pale dress seated at the piano, her auburn hair loose over her shoulders as she enjoys a cup of tea while reading sheet music. The interior behind her dissolves into loose greens and golds, the brushwork broad and unfussy, so that the light falling across her dress and the piano keys becomes the focus. Well presented in a gilt effect frame. Signed lower right. Signed and dated 1998 verso. On canvas.
Condition
The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. The artwork itself is in very good condition for its age.
