A very fine late Victorian English School portrait of a gentleman seated with his lap dog, painted in watercolours. The gentleman is dressed in a black day jacket and wears his facial hair in the style fashionable for the period. Small lap dogs also became very popular in the 19th century, though they were often featured in portraits of women. The painting is well presented in a dark wood Reeded picture frame. Unsigned.
