Elva Joan Blacker (1908-1984) - Original Mid 20th Century Watercolour. Unsigned. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Elva Joan Blacker was born in carshalton, daughter of photographer William harry Blacker, She pursued her painting ambitions by painting miniature portraits, studying at SOCLA and the Slade School of Art. She exhibited her photographic portraits at the Paris Salon and Royal Scottish Academy. During the war, Elva worked for the war effort and joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force as a driver at Biggin Hills. She produced many wartime paintings, including at hospitals, other drivers, the RAF and pilots. Her work was recently exhibited at RAF Hendon.
