A vibrant and well executed mezzotint by Ellen Jowett (b.1874) after the original portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769 –1830). This print has retained its intense and pure colour. The artist has made this lithographic reproduction of the original portrait their own; Jowett has given the sitters larger eyes and a more cherubic appearance, as is her trademark style. This print was hand printed, in colour, in one printing. It was a very limited run and the original plate was destroyed after printing. The artist has signed to the lower right hand corner in pencil outside the plate lines. There is a blindstamp at the lower left corner. On wove.
Condition
The print is in incredibly good condition. There are a few dirty Marks on the backing sheet. There is a tear in the upper left corner of the backing sheet.
