Overall the condition is good. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration. There is some light surface dirt typical of a painting this age. There is a tiny surface abrasion to the lower left inscription but it is still legible.

His work was exhibited widely, particularly in Manchester at the City Art Gallery and London, including at the Royal Academy (where he showed 19 works) and the Royal College of Art. He served as President of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.
