Artist Biography

Richard Baseleer was a Belgian painter and etcher who learned his craft under his father, himself a skilled etcher and lithographer. His work spanned figures, portraits, and urban scenes, though he became best known for his maritime paintings and river landscapes. It was this mastery of waterways that earned him the affectionate title of "painter of the Lower Scheldt."
