A fine original late 18th Century hand colored copper engraving, depicting a view of Oxford with figures in a field and a dog, by the engraver Edward Rooker (1712-1774) after a painting by his son Michael Angelo Rooker (1743/6-1801). From the Oxford Almanack, published in 1775. On wove laid to card. Signed in the plate.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. There is a closed tear to the upper edge measuring 13cm that has been repaired, and a smaller closed tear to the lower edge. The print has been cropped within the plate lines.
