Artist Biography
Edouard Joseph Goerg (1893-1969) was a French Expressionist painter, engraver, and illustrator. He was born in Sydney, Australia, to French parents. His family were champagne merchants and Goerg gained their counter in the United Kingdom, where he stayed a few years before settling in Paris in 1900. From then on, he travelled extensively within France as well as in Italy, India, and Ceylon. Works by Goerg have sold at Christie's and he is also represented in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
