A quintessentially English landscape with cattle grazing on wooded hills with a farmhouse cottage in the distance. This impressively sized oil has been rendered in a dark palette with pink hues in the sky and frosting the tips of the grass and trees, giving an atmosphere of the waning sun. The artist has signed illegibly in the bottom right corner and monogrammed BWS (Birmingham Watercolour Society). The painting is presented in a handsome and well proportioned frame with egg and dart and strap work. Signed illegibly. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is There is craquelure to the bottom and left areas of the painting and a dent to the canvas on the left side below the cottage.There is a scuff to the gilt effect on the bottom left of the frame.
