An accomplished watercolour of an imagined ancient Rome, including surviving landmarks such as the Triclinium Leoninum to the left, the Aurelian Walls to the right, and the Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in the centre of the background. Well-presented in a washline mount and gilt-effect frame. Inscribed with the names of the buildings to the lower edge. Illegibly signed. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing, particularly noticeable to the sky. Minor scuffs to the frame.
