Early 19th Century Watercolour - Stiff Drink After A Long Day

A timeless scene in watercolour showing a man slumped in his chair, having just discarded his cane and hat after a long day, while his wife pours him a large drink. The artist has captured the domesticity of the moment wonderfully with the additions of the cat and household items littering the table.

The painting is unsigned and presented in a gilt effect frame with beaded molding, glazing and a card mount.

On wove.

The painting and the mount have heavy discolouration and the painting has two areas of acid burn to the upper edge. There is very light foxing across the surface. The frame has slight splitting at the two right hand corners.
