Description
This rustic genre scene portrays a farmer and his daughter pausing to discuss the day's work and plan their next tasks. She holds a sheaf of wheat, her free hand resting on her hip, while he stands beside his wagon, pipe in mouth. To their left, a small pony and cow wait patiently. The artist renders the textures with meticulous detail - from the golden wheat to the fabric of their clothes - imbuing the scene with a vivid, tangible realism. There is an additional study of a gentleman verso. Unsigned. Well presented in a lacquered frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals the artwork has undergone previous restoration. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Light wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations. Overall the frame is in very good condition.
