E. Rieck - Late 19th Century Watercolour Mountainous Lake View
Description
A very fine and accomplished watercolour painting by the German artist E. Rieck. This beautiful view possibly depicts a scene in Lake Constance with several fishing boats, figures, and mountains in the distance. Signed to the lower right-hand corner. There is a label on the reverse inscribed with the name 'Emil Rieck', however, we do not believe that it is by this artist. Presented in a double wash line card mount and in a distressed, gilt-effect frame with ornate details, as shown.
On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing, mainly to the sky area. Some marks to the mount. There is stable cracking to the frame, as well as minor losses and scuffs.
