This Dutch style portrait depicts a merry tavern drinker in a dimly lit interior, gesturing with one hand while holding a glass of wine in the other. A flagon and clay pipe can be seen resting on the tabletop while the shells of mussels can be seen thrown to the floor. The painting has been well presented in a handsome gilt-effect frame with various carved running patterns. Unsigned. On panel.Condition
There is some craquelure to the surface of the painting. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. The gilt-effect frame shows signs of light wear.
