This daring collection of contemporary works by the British artist Don Hemming includes visceral figurative work, as well as striking abstract compositions. With clear influences from the Rothko late period, his manner is reminiscent of more recent artists such as the late Wolf Kahn and the Belgian painter Koen Lybaert.
Hemming's work occupies the space between abstract expressionism and colour field painting, often with a focus on movement. Favouring dark and earthy tones, his characteristic style and small scale lends itself well to being hung in groups or pairs.
