Don Farrell RI RBA (b.1942) - 1989 Watercolour Doorway

Description

An atmospheric and absorbing painting of a doorway occupied by a wooden chair with a blue garment resting on its seat. Presented glazed in a white and grey double mount and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Signed to the lower-left edge. Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours exhibition label on the verso which includes the date and title. On watercolour paper.

Condition

There is some slight discolouration to the mount and small scuffs to the frame. Overall in very good condition.

Artist Biography

Don Farrell RI (b.1942) was born in Vancouver and has resided on Vancouver Island since 1999. Farrell was approached by fellow artist Jean Duffey about submitting paintings for the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 1984 Exhibition in London. He not only had three paintings selected, but was awarded their top prize, the 'RI Medal' and also received an honorary mention. Farrell was elected a full member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour in 1984 and was also elected to full membership of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1985.
