Description

A view of Mount Vesuvius in Naples with boats and figures in the foreground. The full title of the scene, inscribed in plate in French to the lower edge, reads 'View of Vesuvius and Part of the Gulf of Naples'. Etched by Delvaux and finished by Longueuil. Originally designed for 'Voyage Pittoresque ou Description des Royaumes de Naples et de Sicilie' by Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non, first published in volumes from 1781-1786. There is a label detailing this information on the verso. Presented glazed in a blue mount with gold washlines and a burr wood effect frame. The names of both artists are inscribed in plate. On wove.

Condition

There is some mild foxing. There are some small chips to the frame. Overall well-presented and in good condition.
