A striking society portrait depicting an elegant Edwardian lady dressed in elaborate Elizabethan-inspired fancy dress. Fancy dress balls were a fashionable feature of Victorian and Edwardian high society, with wealthy guests often commissioning elaborate historical or theatrical costumes for these occasions.
