The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor surface marks. Some scuffing and stable cracking to the frame, as well as some widening to the joints. Small areas of restoration to the mouldings.

Cornelius Pearson was a landscape and topographical painter, as well as an engraver. He was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, and went to London at an early age, where he became an engraver.
He then began to paint, mainly in watercolour. Pearson exhibited at Suffolk Street between 1843 and 1879, at the Royal Academy from 1845 until 1872, and at the New Watercolour Society. He was one of the oldest members of the Langham Sketching Club. Two of his paintings of Wales are in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
