Dusk settles over a rural village where two nuns walk along a rugged track in this serene landscape scene by Dutch artist Cornelis Groeneveld (1882-1952). A church tower stands silhouetted against the orange-hued evening sky, whilst bare winter trees dot the grassy foreground. Signed to the lower left. Well presented in a gilt frame. Discolouration and areas of craquelure. The artwork has undergone restorative work, including relining and areas of overpainting. Scuffs and dents to the frame.
