Description

An atmospheric Dutch harbour scene by Cornelis de Bruijn Jr. (1901–1974). Fishing boats lie moored against a stone quay, their masts rising against a clouded overcast sky. Beyond them, a tower and church spire break the skyline, while the still water carries soft reflections of the hulls and quayside. The painting is well presented in an elaborate moulded frame. Signed lower right. On canvas.

Condition

A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Inspection under UV light reveals minor overpainting in the skyline. The frame has minor surface wear. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
