Artist Biography

Conway Lloyd-Jones was a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club from 1878-1895. He is thought have had a holiday home in the county and in 1881 exhibited from Beauchamp House, Wimborne Minster, thirteen pictures including an oil 'Heigh-Ho! the Holly' and watercolours 'Cold Hill Firs', 'Countisbury in a Fog' and 'Ivybridge'. Lloyd-Jones was an eccentric and unusual figure, knowing to have been declared bankrupt in 1884 he also tried his hand at inventing alongside painting. In 1885 he applied for a patient to trademark his invention thought to improve the lids of boxes and barrels. He died aged 50 in 1897.
